Where Art Thou KOTR?

How can a beautiful start end in a tragedy?

Woke up at 5 AM this morning to try a new workout. Got out at 5:37 AM and headed for the park. Then I did the following to spice up my old, boring routine:

1. Run 800 m. at 4 mins. 35 secs.
2. Jog/walk 400 m.
3. Run 800 m. at 4 mins. 43 secs.
4. Jog/walk 400 m.
5. Run 800 m. at 4 mins. 35 secs.
6. Jog/walk 400 m.

When I came home, I stretched and did some strengthening exercises (following the advise of Gigi, the fitmommy) using dumb bells, crunch ball and resistance band.

I was sooh hungry after that I almost ate the whole daing na bangus for breakfast!

I then took a quick shower and went to MAKRO. Upon returning home, left again to bring my daughter Eia to her ophthalmologist who unfortunately called that he couldn't make it.

Took early lunch @ 11:30 AM. At 12:30 PM, we were again on the road on our way to my dentist friend for Eia's consultation. His clinic is near Rockwell so I thought our trip would be "killing two birds with one stone". Adidas Rockwell is one of the registration outlets for the much-awaited KOTR.

Couldn't contain my excitement when I approached the sales lady and proudly told her that I would be registering for KOTR. My big smile disappeared and turned into frown when she announced that the only race bib and singlet left were for 21k! But she was kind enough to give me a registration form and calling card so I could check if and when there will be new set of race bibs and singlets.

When I saw at the back of the form that Adidas Mall Of Asia and Festival Mall are also participating outlets, I decided that we drop by MOA before going home to Philamlife Village, Las Pinas City.

I was keeping all my fingers crossed while traversing from National Book Store (where I left Ate Ella and Eia) to the Adidas outlet located at the farthest end of the mall.

Much to my dismay, I got the same information that the only available race bib and singlet were for 21k. I went home broken-hearted but hang on to my last hope that I could still register at Festival Mall.

I immediately contacted Adidas Festival Mall when we got home but guess what--they don't have anything left. Not even for 21k!

How about you? Are you fortunate enough to register for KOTR?

  3. Baka pwede mo pang papalitan Joe. Dami pang 21k sa Rockwell and MOA. Pero tiyak namang may dadating pang 21k sa TRINOMA. The sales ladies assured me that Monday or Tuesday, new batch of race bibs and singlets will arrive. Ganon din siguro sa Trinoma. But be sure to call first before going there. Good luck!

  16. di pa kaya ng powers ko ang 21k eh. hehe...i only registered for the 10k event but i am not sure if i would be able to break my PR because of my patellar tendinitis. hope to meet you in KOTR. Goodluck.

  17. i'll do that asap. i will be running in the 10k event.

  18. Good decision, gemini. Our priority must always be to run injury-free. Forget about breaking your PR first. Just enjoy the 10k run.

  19. Parang ako lang yata ang 5k ah. Mag 10k na kaya ako Bro J para makita ko kayo lahat? Hmmm. By the time I make up my mind, wala na uli registration forms hah hah ...

  20. Hey nora, argh...hassle. I signed up soon after they announced it at festival mall so I got 10k without a hitch.

Don't feel pressured about being in 5k. When it comes to running, you're just competing against yourself. No one else. Relax and have fun. You'll get to 10 and 21s in time. No rush. :)

  21. Oh no! I haven't registered yet :-( As with most guys, have a bad habit of doing thing at the last minute. But 21K... who would have thought that it's now common to race at this level. Heck! it's my first 21K, I thought it's still elite level. I didn't realized there's so many strong runners out there.

I'd better register first thing tomorrow... I hope there's still some bib left for 21K

  22. Hi nora, i was able to registered some of my friends for 5k at the Gateway. They still have some numbers for the 5K but no available singlet for the women yet. Anyway, they say that it might be available by wednesday so to follow na lang singlet. Hurry cause there's only few numbers left.Hope you'll get one. God bless!

  23. Hope you'll be able to register for the 5K sa gateway. meron pa sila 5K numbers kaya lang to follow pa singlet for women. Correct ka dyan, wala na 10K race bib.

  24. Coming from my idol and mentor, I will follow your advise Jaymie. I will enjoy my 5k Run at the KOTR (that is, if I'm fortunate enough to receive a miracle and will be able to register...)
    Thanks!

  29. Nora, were you thinking about the 10K at KOTR? Anyway, I hope those that were able to get in got in.

I'm always concerned about races that have a limit of entries. Anyway, please take care. Hope the training is going well. We'll see you soon and thanks or responding on my blogs.

  30. Running 10k in the KOTR did cross my mind, Wayne. But Jaymie reminded me not to rush. And she's right. I have 50 more years of running ahead of me so I'll take it slow but sure heh heh ... Will only be running 5k and have the time of life in the KOTR. This is my first time to run in the Fort. It would be a whole new experience for me. I just hope I don't get lost.

  34. That's good news, dasher! What distance are you running? Pwede palang male singlet for ladies? Didn't know that.
    See you soon!

    ReplyDelete
  35. i'm running 10k for kotr. we have no choice but to get the singlets for male because megamall ran out of singlets for female. i asked them if i can get singlets for female from other reg centers, but i was told that i can only claim singlets from the reg center where i paid.

  38. You better call the outlets first, tech spec, before going para di masayang time, effort, & gas. And you could also ask them to reserve a race bib for you. Good luck!
